Discrete-variable quantum key distribution with homodyne detection

Most quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols can be classified as either a discrete-variable (DV) protocol or continuous-variable (CV) protocol, based on how classical information is being encoded. We propose that combines the best of both worlds -- simplicity state preparation in DV-QKD together with cost-effective and high-bandwidth homodyne detectors used CV-QKD. Our proposed has two highly practical features: (1) it does not require honest parties to share same reference phase (as required CV-QKD) (2) selection decoding basis performed after measurement. also prove security asymptotic limit under assumption collective attacks. simulation suggests suitable for secure high-speed over metropolitan distances.
